Let’s Talk Weeds!
This has been a prolific year for weeds and volunteer invasive plants. As end of summer nears, weeding may not be at the top of the list, but it is important. We would like to remind all homeowners that Bookcliff Gardens is contracted to control weeds only on common area planter beds and at certain times, including spraying and manual pulling. Any homeowner-owned planter beds for plants, shrubs and trees are to be weed-controlled by the owner, including owner planter beds in Filing 4 Courtyard where the turf is managed by Bookcliff.
Invasive plants such as pampas, redbuds and Russian Sage often show up in the middle of plants in planter beds; if you didn’t plant them, they should be treated as weeds and removed before they become too large and take over your garden bed! If you have shrubs that overhang into the street, gutter or sidewalk, please trim, for both pedestrian and vehicular safety and stormwater management. And for those homeowners in Filing 4 Courtyard and Filing 1 and 3 where HOA irrigation water is provided to the beds, please keep the shrubs trimmed so workers can observe the emitters or move the emitters to where they can be seen.
If you do spray, please keep in mind that drift spray can damage close-by evergreens, shrubs or turf areas. Please be respectful of your neighbor’s plants.
